He was the first child of Sam Ealy Johnson, Jr., and Rebekah Baines Johnson, and had three sisters and a brother: Rebekah, Josefa, Sam Houston, and Lucia. Jack Hood Vaughn (b. August 18, 1920, Lame Deer, MT–d. October 29, 2012, Tuscon, AZ) was an ambassador, assistant Secretary of State, and Director of the Peace Corps.
